Big Creek Road RaceThe weekend of August 29-30 is shaping up to be a great time to be in Des Moines if you love cycling!

The weekend kicks off with the Toyota Big Creek Road Race, brought to you by the women of the Bike World/All9yards Cycling Team. With $1900 in prize money and a great 6 mile rolling country course, the start/finish in beautiful Big Creek State Park (right near the beach... bring the kids!!) - it will be a great race! There will be a 'Women's Beginner' race for women who have raced for less than a year - the open race is for all the fast chicks that have been beating each other up for more than a year.

Then, Saturday night, in the East Village, the Des Moines Bike Collective is hosting a Coaster Race starting at the base of the State Capital - the one to coast a beater the farthest wins! Then join the Des Moines Cycle Club for a pajama party - featuring a bike expo - short ride to the East Village and a special showing of 'Breaking Away"! Go to www.Bikeiowa.com for details.

Spend Sunday in the East Village Criterium http://www.eastvillagecrit.com/ for your share of the $5,600 in prize money! Races will be held all day in front of the state Capital. This new race is hosted by the Rassumsen Death Squad and DMOS/RDMB Race Team and the Punk Rock Cycling Team. Stick around for the All9Yards Iowa Cup Awards presentation crowning our Iowa Cup Champions at 6:00pm.

Yep, it's gunna be a great weekend of cycling in Des Moines - something for everyone - and a great reason to visit for the weekend! In case you didn't notice - that's nearly $8,000 in prize money that's up for grabs!
